Guardiola surpasses the legendary Manchester United coach with victory over Slovan! He also set a new Champions League record

Manchester City destroyed Slovan Bratislava in the second round of the Champions League, winning 4:0. For the English team itself it was simply a gain of three points, but its coach Pep Guardiola reached a solid milestone. He surpassed Sir Alex Ferguson’s record.

Despite this, it was only a four-goal victory. Ilkay Gündogan scored in the eighth minute, then Phil Foden, Erling Haaland and 21-year-old James McAtee also got on the scoresheet.

But it was in this statistic that City coach Pep Guardiola surpassed legendary Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson.

Guardiola sets a new Champions League record

As OptaJoe reported on the X network, the Spanish strategist and his team won their thirteenth match in the Champions League in this way.

With Manchester United, the former coach Ferguson has beaten his opponents with this result, i.e. by four goals, in a total of twelve matches. Guardiola thus also set a new Champions League record.

Vladimir Weiss Sr. spoke about the match with City in a different way after the game, admitting that he had probably never seen such quality live. “I have never played against such an opponent before. In my eyes, this is the best team in the world with the best players. It was an honour to play against such a team. It’s from a different world,” the Slovak manager praised.
