Manchester City managed to beat Leeds United 7:0 on Tuesday night. Pep Guardiola was able to enjoy a quiet evening. However, apart from securing the first place, he could also enjoy the record he broke.
Pep Guardiola has been Manchester City’s coach since the summer of 2016, winning 10 different trophies with the team in that time. The only one missing from his collection is the Champions League winners’ trophy.
Even without that, however, no one can deny that under Guardiola, the Citizens have become one of the best teams on the planet. Until his arrival, the less successful of the Manchester clubs may have experienced progression and won a few trophies, but now no one doubts his team.
In the Premier League, in particular, Guardiola is doing extremely well. He has won three titles in five completed seasons and is now fighting for another. Moreover, he has a very interesting and positive record.
In fact, in the win over Leeds, the Citizens broke the 500 league goals mark under the Catalan strategist. It took them just 207 games to do it.
Until now, the record holder was coach Jürgen Klopp, under whom Liverpool needed 234 games to score 500 goals.
The comparison with the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson is also interesting. Although the Manchester United legend did not have as brilliant an entry into his England engagement as Guardiola, the Red Devils scored 500 goals under him in 265 games.
