Griezmann back to Atlético? The clubs are at an advanced stage of negotiations

Antoine Griezmann has long been the target of speculation and the same is true in the final hours of the transfer window. According to all reports, he is very close to a return to Atlético Madrid.

The French striker has been a Barcelona player since the summer of 2019, when the Catalan big club bought him from Madrid for 120 million euros. It was a big transfer.

However, the excitement of his arrival was replaced rather quickly by disappointment. Antoine Griezmann did not perform as expected. After more or less a year, there was talk of his departure. But it never came.

There was always one club associated with the possible engagement of Griezmann. The one he came to Barcelona from, Atlético Madrid.

The Frenchman had a chance to take over the leadership role in Barcelona’s attack when Lionel Messi left the club, but in three games this season he has not scored a goal or an assist. Moreover, according to the reliable Fabrizio Romano, he is close to leaving.

The renowned journalist reported that negotiations between Barcelona and Atlético are already at an advanced stage and that an agreement should still be reached in the last hours. The player should have already agreed on all personal terms with the club. Only the agreement between the clubs is being resolved.

Griezmann is expected to join his former club on loan with an obligation to buy him out afterwards. For now, however, the question is whether this will be able to be finalised.
