What was obvious for several races in the Australian Grand Prix took on a mathematical certainty. The Italian Bezzecchi has become the best rookie this season, having collected 93 championship points so far, many more than his pursuers.
His “Rookie of the Year” title was decided in Australia, where Bezzecchi finished fourth with 13 points.
Bezzecchi even scored one podium this year, finishing in the top ten nine times. In fact, you can see his best moments this season in the attached Twitter post below.
It should be noted that two other rookies also scored points at the Australian Grand Prix, making their debuts in MotoGP this season. Darryn Binder finished 14th (2 points) and Remy Gardner 15th (1 point).
Bezzecchi was the clear winner in the rookie championship with 93 points. The rider of Valentino Rossi’s team (Mooney VR46 Racing Team) is currently 70 points ahead of second-placed Fabio Di Giannantonio.
Third in the standings is Binder, who has collected 12 points so far this season, with Gardner fourth with 10 points and Raul Fernandez last, who has one point less.
Bezzecchi’s statement
“I am very happy with this race and I am also happy to win the Rookie of the Year title. We have done a lot of work since the start of the season, we have grown together, we have developed together and it’s still not over yet,” said Bezzecchi in an interview with the official Mooney VR46 Racing Team website.
