As black as the second day of the Australian Open started for our tennis players, Karolína Plíšková started it pink. Karolína Muchová did not do badly either. In an evenly matched match, Barbora Krejcikova won the match.
After the first round of the Australian Open, Siniakova, Strycova, Bouzkova and Kristyna Pliskova are already out of the game. Kvitová, Muchová, Krejčíková and Karolina Plíšková have advanced.
Of all of them, it was the last one who performed the best so far. During the second day of play, she literally swept away her opponent Jasmine Paolini.
In the first set she gave her a canary, in the second she won 6::2. In a battle that lasted less than an hour, she scored a clear win against the 95th player in the WTA ranking.
Karolína Muchová and Jelena Ostapenko had a slightly more even match on Tuesday. The Olomouc native fought for the first set for an hour, but she finished it 7:5.
In the second set, however, she was a bit more dominant, but she did not have it easy either. After forty minutes she won it 6::2.
Barbora Krejčíková was the last of our tennis players to advance. She played against Saisai Zheng, who is 15 places better ranked in the WTA rankings. And it was quite a battle.
Krejcikova won the first set 6::3, but lost the second set 2::6. In the third set, Krejcikova broke the duel in her favour and won it 6: 2, thus 2: 1 in sets. Krejcikova spent almost two and a half hours on the court.
