Leicester have managed to reorganise themselves after relegation from the Premier League and are absolutely dominating the Championship. After 12 league rounds, they have 11 wins, the best start to a competition in the club’s history.

If any team hasn’t fundamentally crumbled from relegation, it was definitely Leicester. The owners had let it be known months before this fact that they would run the club in a healthy financial environment. And so they did.

But that didn’t sit well with coach Brendan Rodgers, who openly criticised the management in press conferences over the outflow of his players. At the same time, he has not been given the space to bring in new reinforcements.

Many were very surprised that the former Liverpool coach remained on the Leicester bench even after poor performances. In the end, he stayed there until the spring, when it was sort of clear to everyone what was in store for the recent Premier League winner.

The new Leicester

Leicester brought in Italian coach Enzo Maresco, who had served as Pep Guardiola’s assistant, for a fresh start. But he has taken on his role with grace.

After 12 league rounds played, Leicester are clearly in first place, having lost only a game to Hull City. The Foxes also reached the third round of the Carabao Cup, where they fell to Liverpool, who inflicted their second defeat of the season.

At the same time, Leicester have strengthened very well. The team is full of great players like Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi. At the same time, quality and experienced players such as Harry Winks and Conor Coady came in.

Of course, the team has also added a number of talents that we will most likely see in the Premier League next year. Stephy Mavididi from Montpellier for €7.5 million or Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who was promoted from the U21 to the A-team in 2021, were also great signings.

Both of the aforementioned players are regularly picking up Canadian points and are great hopes for the days to come. Thus, if Maresco’s men don’t rest on their laurels, the Foxes will surely be a very interesting team to grace the Premier League once again.
