Michal Martínek is a former champion of the Octagon, he almost fought his way to the UFC, last time he fought under the Russian organization ACA, but for obvious reasons he won’t add any more fights there for some time. So on Saturday he made his debut in KSW in Poland. How did he do?

The best Czech heavyweight fighter signed with the Polish organization KSW after the end of ACA and on Saturday night he had his first fight there when he faced Polish prospect Filip Stawowy.

When the two fighters stepped on the scale the day before the fight, there was a 10 kilogram difference between them. While Michal Martinek weighed 108 kilograms, Stawowy weighed 118 kilograms.

Martínek came into the fight as the favorite and he did his part. In the match he practically never once got into a situation that would be dangerous for him. In all three rounds he fought from the retreat and was able to hit his opponent accurately.

The Czech fighter was very light on his feet, had great and fresh movement, and it was very obvious that he was one of Jiri Prochazka’s sparring partners in preparation for more than just his UFC title fight.

He didn’t rush anywhere, he was patient and that paid off to the maximum. Stawowy had a 9:2 record before the fight, he never lost early, on the contrary he gave 8 knockouts himself.

This puts Martinek back on a winning streak, having lost two out of three fights on the scorecards in the ACA. His goal, of course, is the KSW heavyweight title, but it won’t be easy. He’s off to a great start though.
