Great news for the floundering Leverkusen. A key superstar has started training with the ball and is working towards a return to the line-up
Florian Wirtz is one of the greatest talents in world football, but since March he has not had the chance to further demonstrate and develop his talent and qualities. He suffered a serious injury. Now, however, he could become a saviour. Leverkusen are not doing well and Wirtz could be the player to change that.

Excellent news not only for Leverkusen, but for the whole of German football. The greatest talent in German football is recovering from a serious injury and trained with the ball for the first time on Friday.
Florian Wirtz had a fantastic last season. He was a key player for Leverkusen, and along with Moussa Diaby and Patrik Schick, he formed the most important and highest quality part of the team. But in March he tore his ACL as an 18-year-old talent.
A long absence was expected and the expectations were fulfilled. He returns to the game after six months. However, that doesn’t mean anything. Wirtz will have to get fit and play hard first.
But once he does, he will be a big boost for Leverkusen. If he can get up to speed early and build on his performances from last season, he could even fight for a place in the national team at the upcoming World Cup.
It is worth mentioning that Wirtz had excellent numbers last season. In 31 competitive games he scored 10 goals and added 14 assists. He was more or less Patrik Schick’s backyard passer.
Wirtz is also very versatile. In addition to being an offensive midfielder, he can also play from the wing or right in the heart of the midfield. It will be interesting to see what his return will mean for Adam Hložek.
