Great news! Another Djokovic-Alcaraz clash on the horizon
Every tennis season has its main theme. This year’s seems to be the emerging rivalry between Djokovic and Alcaraz. The two tennis players played two matches together in 2023 and both times it was great tennis and the highlight of a Grand Slam tournament. Now it is likely that another duel is coming. And not just any duel.

The two tennis players played two matches together in 2023 and both times it was great tennis and the highlight of a Grand Slam tournament. Now it is likely that another duel is coming. And not just any duel.
Novak Djokovic had a chance to attack the season’s Grand Slam this year. But Carlos Alcaraz stood in his way. The 20-year-old Spaniard lost his first duel with the Serbian at the French Open, but at Wimbledon he has already put a stop to Djokovic’s ambitions.
Instead of attacking four majors won in one calendar year, Djokovic has a new challenge ahead of him. To face the sixteen years younger Alcaraz in a clash of generations. And it is in this clash that the next interesting chapter now looms.
Davis Cup 2023
Spain and Serbia are in the same final group of the Davis Cup 2023, along with the Czech Republic and South Korea. Their matches will take place in Valencia, Spain, and both tennis stars are in the nomination of their teams.
Alcaraz, the current world No. 1, will represent Spain alongside Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (23rd in the ATP rankings), Roberto Bautista Agut (37th in ATP singles, formerly world No. 14 in doubles) and Marcelo Granollers (16th in ATP doubles).
In addition to world No. 2 Djokovic, the Serbian lineup includes Laslo Djere (34th on ATP), Dusan Lajovic (64th on ATP) and Hamad Medjedovic (144th on ATP). Also because of this prestigious team competition, Djokovic decided to change his plans for tournaments in the USA.
Other battles
The clash between Alcaraz and Djokovic in the Davis Cup will be a highly anticipated sporting event. It is clear that Djokovic will be very strongly encouraged to tip the mutual results with the Spaniard in his favour in the national tournament.
There can be no doubt about the huge motivation on Alcaraz’s side as well. Last week, after his triumph at the US Open, he surprisingly fell short to Auger Aliassim in the Davis Cup. Will he hold Spain this year in the home duel against Serbia?
Either way, we are in for a great week of tennis. The US Open starts in less than two weeks and the Davis Cup will soon follow. And it certainly doesn’t have to stay at one Djokovic-Alcaraz duel.
