Linda Fruhvirtová is only 16 years old talent of Czech tennis. She is a wild card at the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami. However, in the first round against the Danish Kovinic she gave a great performance and showed that she has a bright future ahead of her.

Only sixteen years old, Fruhvirt is currently ranked in the third hundred of the WTA rankings.

Considering that she will only celebrate her seventeenth birthday in May this year, it is nevertheless a great position that many of her peers can only envy.

In the current season, Fruhvirt managed to win an ITF tournament in Mexico. Thanks to her recent great results, the tennis player from the Czech Republic has secured a wild card in Miami.

The fate has assigned her Danka Kovinic, a 27-year-old player originally from Montenegro. She has recently won the scalps of Jil Belen Teichmann and Karolina Pliskova. Among others, she beat Emma Raducanu, the reigning US Open champion.

The Czech entered the match clearly better, having already won her opponent’s serve in the first game. This proved that her chances of victory are definitely not small. They were even a bit higher after the end of the first set, which ended 6:0.

The second set was a bit more even, with Kovinic even taking a 3:1 lead. But then she lost her serve again, which turned out to be the key moment of the match. The owner of three ITF titles won the second set 6: 4.

It is already certain that Fruhvirt will improve her career high in Monday’s ranking. But her journey through the tournament in Miami is not over yet, as she will face Belgium’s Elise Mertens in the second round.
