The 25-year-old native of Brno proves that she is not only a great doubles player! In Strasbourg, Barbora Krejcikova managed to win the first singles trophy of her career.
Four years ago in Nuremberg it didn’t work out, this year in March in Dubai it didn’t work out either, but now in Strasbourg Barbora Krejcikova has made up for it and won her first singles title in her career.
The Moravian tennis player made it to the final over Dodinova, Garcia, Alexandrova and Niemeier. In the final, she faced Mihaela Cirstae.
In Strasbourg, Krejcikova was the fifth seed and confirmed her role as a slight favourite by defeating the Romanian tennis player in two sets 6:3 and 6:3. The match lasted one hour and 41 minutes.
Krejčíková thus followed her late former coach Jana Novotna, who won the title in 1989. Nicole Vaidišová from the Czech Republic also won the title.
Krejčíková is currently in great shape. So she will definitely go to the French Open in maximum psychological well-being. Moreover, she will move up to 33rd place in the WTA rankings.
