Now that was drama! The last round of the Premier League was marked by a thrilling battle for the title. Manchester City and Liverpool were competing for the top spot. Pep Guardiola’s men became the champions of England in the end.
Fans of the English Premier League were particularly focused on two matches in Sunday’s programme. Manchester City and Liverpool fought for the title from a distance. There was only a one-point difference between the two teams, which promised great drama.
And that’s what we got. After the first halves of both games, Manchester City were losing to Aston Villa and Liverpool were tied with Wolves.
The situation became even more dramatic later on and Philippe Coutinho, former Liverpool player, could write a beautiful story when he scored against the Citizens to give the Villans a 2-0 lead. If the Birmingham side had kept that score, Liverpool would have had the title.
Jürgen Klopp’s men won 3-1 against Wolverhampton. However, as has already been suggested, Coutinho did not write a beautiful story. The reason is simple. Manchester City performed a magnificent turnaround.
The Citizens peppered Aston Villa with three goals in five minutes and Liverpool’s hopes were over. Two goals from Ilkay Gündogan, one from Rodri. Mané, Salah and Robertson scored for Liverpool.
Manchester City thus won the Premier League by a single point over Liverpool, confirming their dominance in the league competition by winning their fourth title in the last five seasons.
