Barbora Krejcikova had a great tournament in Birmingham, where she reached the final. Thanks to that, she will be back in the top ten in Monday’s WTA rankings.

Apart from the Australian Open and the tournament in Dubai, Barbora Krejcikova has not been very successful. At the first Grand Slam tournament of the year, she reached the eighth round, where she fell to American Pegula.

In Dubai, she did not find a victor, on the contrary, she defeated Kvitova, Sabalenka, Pegula and Swiatek. It was the biggest success for the 27-year-old Czech tennis player since the French Open in 2021.

The native of Ivančice also managed to prepare for Wimbledon. In Birmingham, she reached the final and gradually found a recipe for beating Bucsová, Martinsová, Fruhvirtová and Zhuova. She reached the final without losing a single set.

However, Krejčíková did not add another valuable trophy to her collection. In the final match she lost to Ostapenko, who won after 7:6 and 6:4. In the first set, the Czech Republic tennis player had a set point, but she was unable to convert it in the tiebreak at 8:7.

The second set, on the other hand, was clearly in the hands of the tennis player representing Latvia. Interestingly, Ostapenko played her first two-set match in Birmingham in the final, while in the previous four duels the winner had to be decided in the third set.

Thanks to her participation in the final, Krejcikova will once again return to the top ten tennis players in the world in Monday’s edition of the WTA rankings. With 2830 points, she will be ranked tenth, while Beatriz Haddad-Maio will drop.

The ninth position will continue to be occupied by Petra Kvitova, winner of the prestigious tournament in Berlin. The two-time Wimbledon champion has 3,101 points, less than 400 points behind the sixth place.
