Good old De Gea nominated for Player of the Month. Coufal’s linemate or the master of direct kicks
Due to the spread of omicron to Europe and therefore the abundance of positive tests for coronavirus, clubs in the Premier League played a maximum of three games in January. This has had an impact on the nominations for the best player of the month, which includes six unusually unproductive players.

James Ward-Prowse shone in the three January games. He scored once and assisted once from the central midfield position, his direct kick against Wolverhampton was an exhibition. He also gave an excellent performance in the valuable 1-1 draw against Manchester City.
Kevin de Bruyne had his first really good month of the season. He assisted once in three games and scored a great long-range shot to decide the victory over Chelsea. But we’ve certainly seen a better de Bruyne in the past.
Although he remains a little overshadowed by other goalkeepers, David de Gea is one of the best the Premier League has to offer this season. He only crowned his performances in January, putting in a terrific performance against both Brentford (3-1) and West Ham (1-0).
Jarrod Bowen has had a good month. He scored three goals in four games and was the only one of West Ham’s squad to keep his form steady. He is the most productive Englishman of the whole Premier League season (6+9).
The dark horse of the nomination could be Joao Moutinho. He won all three games against Wolverhampton, decided the duel with Manchester United with a great shot from outside the box, and against Brentford he didn’t give the home goalkeeper a chance with a tight shot.
Leeds also came into their own in January, winning two out of three games, with Jack Harrison scoring four goals. Although productive, he was not good enough in either encounter to be considered the best player of the month.
