Arsenal failed to win Sunday’s FA Cup match, losing 0:1 to Nottingham Forrest by a late goal. The London side did not have a single shot on target, the media also noticed Nuno Tavares’ reaction to the early substitution.
Arsenal went into the match with a weakened line-up. Four players left for the Africa Cup of Nations, some of the mainstays were given time off, so eighteen-year-old Charlie Patino was in the starting line-up.
Summer signing Nuno Tavares came in at left-back, but he didn’t convince the Gunners coaching staff in Sunday’s game. Already in the 35th minute he was replaced by Kieran Tierney, the Portuguese full-back was healthy.
The unexpectedly early substitution made Tavares very angry and he threw his gloves on the ground on his way off the pitch. He then defended himself from the reassurance of Mikel Arteta’s assistants.
Just when it looked like it was going to overtime, it came as a shock to the favourite. Ryan Yates’ pass was found by Lewis Grabban and he fired past Bernd Leno. Arsenal didn’t manage to equalise and lost 0-1.
Although the Gunners dominated most of the game, with possession climbing to 66 percent, Bukayo Saka and co. never fired a shot on target. You simply can’t advance with that.
