Good news for the Walk! Rakic should have a fight lined up, who will be his opponent?
Jiří Procházka can perhaps breathe a sigh of relief. Aleksandar Rakic, the UFC’s number three ranked fighter, is newly scheduled to fight, so there should be nothing stopping Prochazka’s next title fight with Glover Teixeira.
Jiří Procházka can perhaps breathe a sigh of relief. Aleksandar Rakic, the UFC’s number three ranked fighter, is newly scheduled to fight, so there should be nothing stopping Prochazka’s next title fight with Glover Teixeira.
Aleksandar Rakic has turned down a fight with Jiri Prochazka in the past, but the latter has since moved up to number two in the UFC rankings just ahead of the Austrian fighter thanks to his win over Dominick Reyes, who has since challenged him.
Procházka, however, has not responded to those challenges, but after Glover Teixeira’s win over Jan Blachowicz, there was some discussion about whether the two should face off to determine who Teixeira’s opponent would be.
The reason was simple, Teixeira would be able to fight around the summer and both Prochazka and Rakic would be a year without a fight by then, something the UFC certainly doesn’t want.
Rakic, however, reportedly already has a fight lined up, which would mean Prochazka could quite possibly take a breather and go straight for the title. But who will be Rakic’s opponent?
According to MMA Shorties, it should be Blachowicz, and the winner of that fight would then go on to face the winner of the Teixeira-Prochazka fight for the title.
But so far this is mere speculation and nothing has been officially confirmed. It must be said, however, that such a move makes sense and Czech fans may for the first time be able to cheer for their fighter in a title fight in the most prestigious MMA organization in the world.
