Good news for Pilsen, not for Bayern. The Bavarian giant will be missing several mainstays against Viktoria
Viktoria Plzeň can look forward to another football feast. This time, however, they can hope that they won’t receive a debacle at home from Bayern Munich as a present. The Bavarian giant will have to do without several of its mainstays.
Bayern Munich have had a tough weekend. It failed in its attempt to catch up and optimally leapfrog first-placed Union Berlin in the table. They were unable to beat Borussia Dortmund, with whom they drew 2-2.
The post-match mood in Bavaria was not exactly positive. For many reasons. The loss of points came after a goal by the opponent in the last seconds of the match, one star was injured and another got a coronavirus.
On Wednesday Bayern will play a match at the ground of Viktoria Plzeň and it is obvious that they will have to miss several of their mainstays. Not only the talented and quick-footed left back Alphonso Davies was injured against Dortmund.
For a change, a key player for Bayern this season will be missing due to coronavirus. Jamal Musiala was supposed to slowly take over an important role this season, however, probably nobody expected that he would be quite possibly the best player of the Bavarian giant this season.
Serge Gnabry also seems to be getting a rest, as he had a few tough battles in the Dortmund game and didn’t even finish the game when he was substituted at half time. The injured shoulder is troubling Manuel Neuer for a change.
Bouna Sarr and Lucas Hernandez are still out. Matthijs de Ligt also suffered an injury against Borussia, which is a big problem for Bayern’s defence.
But if there is anything to be happy about for coach Julian Nagelsmann, it should be the return of the legendary Thomas Müller. He could play a key role in the whole game.
