Goncalo Ramos, Gakpo or Martínez: which players are currently on Manchester United’s radar?

Goncalo Ramos, Cody Gakpo, Emiliano Martínez or Memphis Depay. But the list of Manchester United does not end there, coach Erik ten Hag has a few reinforcements he would like to bring to Old Trafford soon. Which footballers are they?

Goncalo Ramos

Number 1 on Ten Hag’s list is Portuguese goalscorer Ramos, who the Manchester United coach believes should replace Cristiano Ronaldo.

Based on recent assumptions, the English club is ready to spend a really big amount of money in January to bring the talented Ramos.

The twenty-one year old player probably made his most visible at the World Cup in Qatar, where he was in the starting line-up in the knockout stage and scored a hat-trick in the 6-1 win over Switzerland.

However, as Goal reports, the Red Devils will have to prepare a truly huge sum. The problem may be that Benfica are not willing to part with their gem for now, unless United pay the exit clause of €120 million.

More offensive stars on the list? Gakpo and Depay!

Fourteen league games, nine goals and twelve assists – that’s the incredible record of Gakpo in the current season. The twenty-three year old PSV Eindhoven prodigious talent also had a great showing at the Qatar championship, where he scored three goals.

No wonder then that the Dutch footballer is also on Ten Haga’s list. Anyway, Manchester United would have to come up with a hefty package as well. Gakp’s current market value is €60 million and is expected to rise even further.

The third on the list in terms of attacking stars is Memphis Depay from Barcelona. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is €20 million and therefore he is a much cheaper option. However, at 28, he doesn’t offer the same future prospects as Ramos or Gakpo.

However, Depay is not the only name on the list from the Catalan big club. The Red Devils also have De Jong in their sights, who in turn is expected to be a replacement for Fred and McTominay.

Apart from him, they will also try to get Mac Allister, who impressed greatly with his performances at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, into the midfield. According to the latest reports, London Arsenal are also interested in the Brighton midfielder.

Emiliano Martínez

The Argentine hero is one of the main players that coach Ten Hag has shown great interest in. United’s current number one is out of contract at the end of the season and the Red Devils have not yet activated the option to extend his current contract by a year.

And according to the latest reports, the club’s management is not planning to do so either. But Martínez’s contract with Aston Villa runs until 2027, which means he won’t be sold on the cheap, especially after his goalkeeping performances at the World Cup.
