Needless to say, by scoring fifteen goals Spain broke England’s record set in 1984. The English national team scored 14 goals at the Euro, so the Spanish team set a new record for European championships.

Coach Luis de la Fuente was very happy with his team during the tournament. However, he let his emotions run high after the tournament was over.

“Rodri, now the Ballon d’Or, please, he is the best in the world. I am happy, satisfied and so is the RFEF (Spanish Football Federation – ed.), ” said De la Fuente, whose words were quoted by Football España.

“I want to continue and I think the RFEF does too. It will not be a problem to modify what needs to be modified (in his current contract). I think it will be done when it needs to be done. If something needs to be revised, I’m not worried. The other things will come when they have to come,” he continued.
