Goal of the year? Coach Arteta sparked the goal-scoring action that secured an important win over Watford

Mikel Arteta is doing his best to get Arsenal back into the Champions League. He has managed to get a winning mentality and team spirit into his charges. In the last game, he had an assist for the winning goal at Watford.

It was the 52nd minute of the Watford-Arsenal game. The away side were leading 1:2 after goals from Martin Odegaard and Bukay Saka. The ball went out of bounds into the coaching staff area. An active Arteta immediately gave the ball away for a free kick.

The young Saka threw it to Portuguese midfielder Cedric Soares. What followed was a combination that has graced the Gunners’ game for years. Quick, effective and one-touch.

The Hornets’ defense couldn’t react in time to their opponent’s offensive action. Soares passed the ball to Odegaard, who in turn passed the ball to Alexandre Lacazette.

The French striker just crossed the ball to a ready Gabriel Martinelli, who sent the ball beyond the whitewash behind the surprised goalkeeper Ben Foster.

The whole action from the throw-in took just six seconds. Watford could only equalize to make it 2-3. Arteta’s activity on the sideline moved Arsenal up to 4th place, which guarantees participation in next year’s Champions League.
