D-Day is coming. Twenty-nine-year-old Jiri Prochazka has a career fight ahead of him, he will fight for the UFC welterweight title. His opponent will be the experienced Brazilian Glover Teixeira.
He took the championship belt from Jan Blachowicz and there was virtually no doubt who his next opponent would be. The Czech fighter will be able to fulfill his dream.
He and the Brazilian are on good terms, they both praise each other and we don’t see any bad blood between them. After all, even from the statements of his coaches it is clear how much respect they have for him.
“He is amazing! He had exactly the same mode as in Abu Dhabi, before the fight with Blachowicz (title fight). He’s absolutely focused, relaxed, not clenched, nothing. But he’s totally focused and he’s a piece of work.
Even though he’s a little bit smaller than Jirka, he’s just a bulldozer. He doesn’t admit to giving the title away at all. Not at all! He’s just in perfect mode. He exudes a healthy respect and professionalism,” said coach Hovězák in an interview with iSport.
“He definitely didn’t come here just to have a warm-up match. He definitely won’t let up. He’s a seasoned old fighter. And he’s very aware of the gravity of the moment. It’s certainly not going to be about him winning a title, and now he basically doesn’t care. Absolutely not. He is awarrior in body and soul and he will go into the fight totally prepared,” Karaivanov said
When can we look forward to the fight? The tournament is in Singapore, but unfortunately it’s timed to fit the American crowd. That’s why we’ll see the title match in the early hours of Sunday morning, probably after 6 o’clock.
