It’s no secret that Steven Gerrard has been speculated about as the new coach of Newcastle United for quite some time now. However, the club’s management has now opened talks with two other interesting names in the Premier League! Which coaches are Newcastle attracting to them?
It is only recently that new owners have taken over this English club and already word is starting to get around. Speculation is currently rife as to which coach will take a seat on the Newcastle bench.
The most serious candidate is clearly the coach of Scottish Rangers, Steven Gerrard. Football Insider reporter, Noel Whelan, insists that he would be the ideal coach and would be able to bring the team together and pull them out of the bottom.
Newcastle are currently only 19th in the table. The Magpies have already played seven games but have only managed three points. They also have the second worst record in the Premier League at 8:16.
The former Liverpool captain is doing a great job in Scotland so far. He has managed to build a great team, moreover, he definitely broke Celtic’s reign last season when they won the league title with Rangers. And that was by 20 points!
But Gerrard is not the only alternative. The club’s management is reportedly already in contact with two coaches working in the English top flight. The first is Brendan Rodgers, who is currently in charge of Leicester City.
And the number three option is Rafael Benítez. The Spanish coach is reportedly a very popular man at Newcastle and has a close relationship with Frank McParland and Owen Brown. These men are acting as advisors to the new board at the club.
So who will sit on the Newcastle bench? We should find out the answer to that question within the next few days or weeks.
