Alejandro Garnacho had reason to celebrate yesterday. His Manchester United advanced to the Europa League eighth round against Barcelona and the Argentine-Spanish footballer didn’t forget to give the Catalans a good scolding.
Alejandro Garnacho had reason to celebrate yesterday. His Manchester United advanced to the Europa League eighth round against Barcelona and the Argentine-Spanish footballer didn’t forget to give the Catalans a good scolding.
Garnacho has made no secret of the fact that his idol since childhood has been Cristiano Ronaldo and that he has been a Real Madrid fan. He even once shared a photo on his Instagram as a young boy wearing a white Los Blancos jersey.
So logically, he won’t like Barcelona. Now he had the chance to stand up to it and helped to knock it out in the 1/16 final of the Europa League. After his shot in the second half, the ball bounced to Fred and then to Anthony, who scored the winning goal.
And Garnacho thoroughly enjoyed the progress. He posted a photo on his Instagram profile mimicking Pedri’s celebration, as his team had just been knocked out by United.
But even more intriguing was the caption Garnacho added to the photo. “The big team is moving on,” the 18-year-old winger quipped to Barcelona.
Logically, this infuriated Barcelona fans, whom he rubbed salt in the wound. “Who are you compared to Pedro? ” wrote the angry Culés under his post.
Manchester United fans, however, were delighted, as were Real Madrid supporters who urged him to move to Spain.
Garnacho has made 13 appearances in the Premier League in the current season, with 2 goals and 2 assists. He also collected two assists in the EFL Cup and added one goal in the Europa League. At 18 years old, he is predicted to have a big future.
