After the first match at the opponent’s ground, which ended 2:2, the players of Slavia Prague wanted to confirm their quality. This summer, they supplemented it with the arrivals of national team goalkeeper Barbora Votíková and offensive midfielder Kateřina Svitková.
Coach Vágner’s charges were within reach of qualifying for the main stage of the Champions League. In front of a decent home crowd, they pushed on the attack from the start. Active play, which resulted in an own goal by the Turkish opponents, was the last joy in Eden.
The visiting team equalised and although the home captain Bartovic was on the scoresheet in the last minute, it was the visiting players who scored the decisive goal in extra time and were able to enjoy promotion to the Champions League.
Andrea Stašková, the Czech striker for the Turkish team, was also happy for the visitors from Turkey. It should be noted that in the first match she gave Votíková both goals. She contributed a lot to the progress of her team.
“A tough match. We couldn’t get into the penalty area. We created more chances, but we didn’t convert them, just like other standard situations,” said Slavia captain Barovičová to Sport.cz.
In her assessment, she omitted the fact that visiting player Hapsatou Diallo hit her in the back of the head with her fist before a standard situation. VAR was not available in Eden, so the main Bulgarian referee did not pull a clear red card from her pocket.
After the end of the match, the visiting players again showed themselves in a negative light by painting the white wall in the visitors’ dressing room. Slavia will be processing this double party with their Turkish counterpart for a long time.
