Frýdek on the national team: it’s definitely on my mind. I would still like to give it a try! What would he like to do after his career?

In the summer of 2020, his journey through the Czech league came to an end. Martin Frýdek did not agree on a contract extension in Sparta and after a long search he finally headed to Lucerne, Switzerland. He is now in his third season there and is wondering where his future paths will lead.
He was a regular in Sparta, but both sides realised it was time to part ways. That’s why the contract was not renewed and Martin Frýdek was able to find a new job.
In the end, he headed to Switzerland, where he was scouted by Lucern. And he played there steadily, in the opening season he played 30 league games, in the following one only three games less.
He’s currently at number 26, but he’s also started to be more productive. He scored three goals, assisted on five and was even named the best player in the Swiss league for the month of April.
That’s also why he can think about returning to the national team, in which he last appeared in 2019, when he played half an hour in a friendly against Brazil.
“It’s definitely on my mind. I would still like to give it a try. I’d be happy to be in the squad. We’ll see how it goes,” he said in an interview with Livesport.
Return to Sparta? That’s not a current topic and it may not follow in the future. Frýdek has explained in the past that he likes Switzerland and could imagine living there.
“I am happy here, my family has got used to it. We would like to stay here, but we will see. After all, you can’t plan too much in football. We’ll see how it turns out. Anyway, I would like to stay here,” he added.
He is currently thirty-one years old, which is why he is already thinking about what he wants to do after his career. He still has plenty of time to finish it, but why not try everything early.
“I’m preparing for life after my career, but at the same time I don’t know if I want to be a coach or do something else. I’m thinking about the future, I hope I can play for five or six more years.
If my health is good, I want to play as long as possible. I’m with the boys at the 16, I’m trying to pass on the experience I’ve gained and show the view through the eyes of professional football,” Frýdek finished.
