A tennis past
If you’re a tennis fan with a decent memory, you might remember his name from lower tier tennis tournaments before 2015. Then the trail disappears. Since then, Frenchman Jules Marie has been pursuing tennis from a completely different side.
In fact, he is a successful YouTuber and his posts will both educate and entertain you. Especially if you speak French. And you can enjoy his videos for a really long time. In fact, he has over six hundred posts on his YouTube channel.
With an average length of 20 minutes, you’ll have over 200 hours of entertainment. But Marie is also keeping you entertained by playing tennis at a competitive level. In fact, in 2020, he has returned to tennis tournaments. Although of course he had to start from scratch.
Marie is back
In the 2020 season, he’s in solid form in the lowest category of tournaments. ITF level events followed in the following years and last year the Frenchman even ventured into Challengers.
And the thirty-two-year-old’s performances have been improving. After all, he has only left the court defeated three times in his last seventeen duels. Of course, his opponents were players from the depths of the rankings, but that changed this week.
Marie is a qualifier for the Australian Open and he has started it very successfully. Against his compatriot Paire, he took the first set in a tiebreak and managed to turn the second one around from 1: 4. So he still has two more steps to take to get his dream Grand Slam start.
The first is a win over Swiss Ritschard. Marie lost to him last year at his home Grand Slam, which he of course made a YouTube video about. Will there be a happier sequel in a few hours?
Finally..
The Frenchman’s second match in qualifying for the opening Grand Slam of the season is scheduled for Thursday morning. Given the number of his followers on YouTube, it will definitely be one of the most watched matches at this stage of the Australian Open.
