La Bombonera wins the poll
The stadium with the best football atmosphere in the world, at least according to the globally renowned sports magazine France Football, is La Bombonera, where Argentine club Boca Juniors play their home games.
The stadium has an unforgettable atmosphere, with 54 000 fans during the matches, and although it may be underrated by the European fan, it is considered in South America as a place that every football fan must visit at least once in his lifetime.
Anfield takes silver
Second place in the rankings went to Anfield, where England’s Liverpool play their matches. The team from the city of the Beatles, which is famous for the anthem “You’ll never walk alone”, which is played in the stands during matches, is one of two English stadiums to make it into the rankings.
The other English football stadium was St. James’ Park, home to the Premier League side Newcastle.
Signal Iduna Park in third place
Third place was awarded to the German stadium Signal Iduna Park, known as the “Westfalenstadion”, which is home to Borussia Dortmund. The club’s atmosphere is known throughout Europe and the chants that ring through the stadium command the respect of many a visiting team.
Interestingly, another German stadium is the Millerntor-Stadion, where the second league team St. Pauli play.
