The French Ligue 1 starts first, on Friday 6 August to be precise, with a match between home side Monaco and Nantes. PSG is traditionally the biggest favourite to win the title, although Lille won last season.
A week later, the Bundesliga kicks off with a match between home side Mönchengladbach and Bayern Munich. This match also appears to be the most attractive match of the round. Bayern is traditionally the hottest candidate for the top spot.
On the same day, the English Premier League kicks off with Brentford – Arsenal. But the showpiece of the round is not until Sunday. Tottenham host Manchester City. The game kicks off at 17:30 on Sunday. There are several title contenders in England.
LaLiga also starts on Friday the 13th. Valencia host Getafe. A day later, Real Madrid travel to Alaves, to whom they lost at home last season.
Reigning champion Atlético is the biggest favourite to win the title, along with city rival Real Madrid. But if Barcelona were to win, it would not be a big surprise.
Serie A is the last to kick off – on Saturday 21 August. Two games are not played until Monday. Inter Milan defend their title after eleven years. It’s probably the biggest favourite for the title, but it changed coaches over the summer.
