The summer break this year in Formula 1 is mainly connected with the resolution of the big transfer saga with the topic of the composition of the starting field for the 2023 edition. And today, we’ll take a look at the drivers who are fighting to enter the higher category, the Formula 3 drivers. Including Moravian hope Roman Stanek. And we’ll also take a look at how they’re doing.

Ten teams of three drivers each, including the Moravian representative of Charouz Racing System, are battling it out over the weekend in two races. One sprint and one main. Unlike F2, there is no compulsory pit stop in any of the races, so the pure talent of the thirty drivers will really come to the fore.

There are also some interesting names on the grid this season. Monaco’s Arthur Leclerc, the younger brother of Ferrari F1 driver Charles Leclerc, is driving for the PREMA Racing team for the second season. The big teams have also signed star talents, with Victor Martins fighting for the Alpine title and Isack Hadjar for Red Bull. Both Frenchmen should not be able to avoid moving up a level next year.

The season is six race weekends out of nine and the title fight is far from decided. The difference between the top five is twenty-four points, with twenty-five points for winning the main race (ten points in the sprint – ed.). There are still 117 points in play, so there is still a lot to ride for.

Drivers’ championship standings

The aforementioned Frenchmen Hadjar and Martins are leading the championship with 104 points, followed by Leclerc with 95 points. Although every driver still has a theoretical chance of the title, realistically the drivers after the seventh-placed Alexander Smoljar will fight for the title. The Russian is currently right behind Roman Stanek with 63 points.

Victor Martins is the only double winner in the main races, along with Staněk, Hadjar, Leclerc and Smoljar who have one win each. There are three main races left in the season and the aforementioned five would hate to let another driver join the winning club.

The F3 championship is interesting for Czech fans mainly thanks to Roman Stanek. He is teetering on the thin ice between promotion to F2 and the end of his career, with the Czech needing to finish in the top three at the end of the season to continue his career. Staněk is 26 points behind Leclerc in third place.

38 drivers have already tried Formula 3 this season. 24 drivers have scored points. Five drivers with zero points are now permanent members of their teams.

Team championship standings

Among the teams, the drivers of the PREMA racing team are sovereignly first. The trio of Arthur Leclerc, Oliver Bearman and Jak Crawford hold a 102-point lead over the second ART Grand Prix team. It is from second place onwards that the other four positions will be fought over a lot.

In fact, there are only 24 points between second place ART Grand Prix and fifth place Trident, Roman Stanek’s team. That is why the final six races could be interesting not only from the point of view of the drivers themselves, but also from the point of view of the fight for the constructors’ title.

On 26-28 August, the F3 will meet the junior F2 and the royal F1.

Individual championship standings:

  1. Isack Hadjar (France, Hitech GP) – 104 points
  2. Victor Martins (France, ART Grand Prix) – 104 points
  3. Arthur Leclerc (Monaco, PREMA Racing Team) – 95 points
  4. Jake Crawford (USA, PREMA Racing Team) – 80 points
  5. Oliver Bearman (Great Britain, PREMA Racing Team) – 80 points
  6. ROMAN STANĚK (Czech Republic, Trident) – 69 points
  7. Alexandr Smoljar (Russia, MP Motorsport) – 63 points
  8. Caio Collet (Brazil, MP Motorsport) – 52 points
