Seventeen grand prizes are behind us, and the eighteenth one awaits us. On November fifth to seventh, we’ll see Formula One in Mexico at the Mexico City circuit. When will it take place, what’s the schedule and where can you follow the race weekend?
Mexico City is the eighteenth destination we will be visiting as part of the Formula 1 World Championship.
The first time Formula One cars visited the circuit was in 1963, with Jim Clark winning the grand prix. The circuit then traditionally closed the F1 seasons. The Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez disappeared from the calendar for 15 years after the 1970 season, but in 1986 racing began again here.
Formula One Grand Prix have not been held in Mexico again since 1993, and the familiar track returned to the eyes of spectators six years ago. The track still largely replicates the original 1959 design, with the main difference being the modified Peralta hairpin.
The track is 4.3 kilometres long and the drivers will cover over 305 kilometres in 71 laps. The circuit consists of 17 corners and offers two DRS zones.
The first detection point is located on the straight between turns 9 and 10, the second at the exit of turn 14.

Live coverage of the Formula 1 races can be watched on Sport 1 and Sport 2. There will also be internet streams and, last but not least, F1 TV, where you can switch to the onboard cameras of individual drivers.
Formula 1:: Mexican Grand Prix – Schedule
Fans of the NHL are certainly used to times like this, but for the F1 viewer, the times for the rest of the race weekend will be a treat.
The drivers will take to the track in Mexico City for the first time on Friday, November 5, as part of the opening practice session on Friday. This will be run in the early evening – 18:30, followed by FP2 at 22:00.
The third practice session is scheduled for Saturday at 18:00, but qualifying will not start until 21:00, in its classic format – Q1, Q2 and Q3.
The race is of course scheduled for Sunday, November 7. All five lights will go out at exactly 20:00. If the race lasts the standard two hours or so and we don’t see red flags due to a major collision, for example, the winner will see the checkered flag around 22:00.
Formula 1:: US Grand Prix – odds
Slowly but surely, the championship battle is coming to a head. So who are you betting on? Can Lewis Hamilton or Max Verstappen win this race?
