Formula 1 is making a big comeback! One of the old Grand Prix could return to the calendar as early as next year

A beautiful destination – the South African Grand Prix is likely to return to the Formula 1 World Championship calendar! F1 President Stefano Domenicali recently held talks with Kyalami officials about the race’s renewal.

The last time South Africa hosted the Kyalami Grand Prix was in 1993. And as part of Formula 1’s drive to race on every continent, except Antarctica of course, there has been talk for some time of a return to South Africa.

After the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Formula 1 President Stefano Domenicali travelled to South Africa to meet with Kyalami officials and other stakeholders. This, of course, was to discuss the revival of the race in their country.

According to Motorsport, Formula 1 had originally planned for the South African Grand Prix to return to the calendar in 2024.

However, there is now reportedly no reason not to make that return. So if talks with Kyalami officials go as Domenicali hopes, the South African Grand Prix will feature on the F1 calendar as early as next year.

The queen of motorsport is thus said to be prepared for the maximum number of races that can be run in one season under the Concorde Agreement, which is 24.

So if everything works out as it should, fans will now see two Grands Prix. Formula One has scheduled the Las Vegas Grand Prix for November next year.

China is still an unclear issue, which according to the contract should also return to the calendar next year. However, the ongoing measures against coronavirus make a start in 2023 very uncertain.

Qatar is also counting on a return to the calendar, where F1 will not run this year due to the planned World Cup. However, the country’s representatives have signed a ten-year contract with the queen of motorsport.

But as they say, someone will have to get out of the rut. And in this case, it’s the French Grand Prix at the Paul Ricard circuit, which Formula One is not counting on for at least next year.

There has also been speculation recently about a Monaco Grand Prix, but those discussions have probably been quashed. However, a big question mark also reportedly hangs over the Belgian VC at Spa.
