The queen of motorsport moves from the Red Bull Ring in Austria to the traditional Silverstone circuit in the UK. When will it take place, what is the schedule and where to watch the race?

The British Grand Prix at Silverstone is the tenth race of this year’s Formula 1 season. The first Grand Prix was held here in 1950. The race is scheduled for 52 laps, during which the drivers will cover a total of 306 kilometres.

FORMULE 1:: BRITAIN GRAND PRIX – PROGRAMME

The first practice sessions at Silverstone will get underway on Friday, 16 July, from 15:30 – 16:30. After that, however, we’ll have a brand new experiment to be tested for the first time at this circuit – a new race weekend format.

Instead of the second practice session on Friday, we will see the qualifying session at 19:00, which we are used to watching on Saturday and which classically determines the starting grid for Sunday’s race.

At least the course of this Friday qualifying will be the same – it will last an hour and will be classically divided into three parts. However, for this race weekend, qualifying will determine the order for Saturday’s qualifying sprint, or Sprint Qualifying.

This is what awaits us after the classic Saturday practice (13:00 – 14:00). This Sprint Qualifying will start at 17:30. However, F2 and F3 fans have long been used to this format. Even better, it can be explained in this way: on Friday we will see qualifying, on Saturday a short 30-minute race to determine the drivers’ order for Sunday’s Grand Prix.

Of course, the main race will take place on Sunday at 4pm.
