The last race of this season will take place in Abu Dhabi at the Yas Marina circuit. The Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, as the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is officially known, is scheduled for 12 December. What is the schedule and where to follow the progress of the entire race weekend?
The Grand Final! That’s a safe way to describe the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. For many years now, it has been the end of the Formula 1 season and on more than one occasion we have seen races that have been full of twists and turns.
The first ever F1 race was held here in 2009, when Sebastian Vettel became the first winner on this track. The German racer was defending the colours of Red Bull at the time, and the Austrian team even won a double here.
The championship title was won by Jenson Button in a Brawn GP. This team also celebrated the first victory in the constructors’ championship.
The circuit is 5.281 kilometres long, with the drivers covering 306 kilometres over 58 laps. The Yas Marina Circuit also features two DRS zones. The first detection point can be found at the entrance to Turn 5, while the second is located at the exit of Turn 7.
