At the end of March Jan Blachowicz was supposed to fight Aleksandar Rakic. This fight was unofficially supposed to decide who would face the winner of the title fight between Glover Teixeira and Jiri Prochazka. However, the bout has been postponed due to an injury to the Pole.
Jan Blachowicz succumbed to Glover Teixeira in the title fight and rather surprisingly lost his UFC title. His prospects were not small, he wanted to defend his title and then fight Jiri Prochazka in Europe.
But that’s not going to happen, at least not yet. walk for the title will go with Teixeira, and Blachowicz took the fight with Aleksandar Rakic. The winner of this contest was thus supposed to be the next challenger to the champion.
However, the March date did not work out, it was due to an injury to the Polish fighter, who announced it on his social networks. Fortunately, the injury will not have to be dealt with surgically.
“Friends, unfortunately I have some bad news for you. It is that I will not be fighting at the end of March. I injured my spine and the general area around my neck, which makes it impossible for me to train with heavy weights. And as part of training, you need to lift heavy weights, right?
So I need to sort that out. Fortunately, the injury doesn’t require surgery, which I’m glad for. Intensive rehab should be enough. I hope that the fight with Rakic will be postponed so that we can meet in the octagon sometime in the first half of the year,” explained Jan Blachowicz on his social media.
Thus, the Blachowicz vs Rakic fight will happen after the title fight. Rakic reacted to the Pole’s statement in an orderly manner, wishing him a speedy recovery and saying that he would see him later.
