What seemed like fantasy and speculation for a few days is now becoming reality. Slovakian goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka, who was at Sparta, is moving from Newcastle to Manchester United. He arrives on a one-year loan.

Manchester United have been eyeing the Slovakian goalkeeper for quite some time, but many fans didn’t believe the transfer could happen. However, on the last transfer day, the Red Devils came with the news that they have acquired a new goalkeeper.

Martin Dúbravka is moving from Newcastle United to Manchester United on a one-year loan deal. He was robbed of his number one spot by England goalkeeper Nick Pope at his former club, and now Dúbravka will compete with David de Gea in goal.

Martin Dúbravka’s one-year loan deal includes a clause that can be used by Manchester City after the season. The loan spell would then become a permanent transfer.

David de Gea is the clear number one in Manchester and Dúbravka comes in as his replacement. He is therefore going to occupy the same role as in his previous stint.

Martin Dúbravka managed to play 130 games for Newcastle before moving to Old Trafford. He managed to keep a clean sheet in 37 of them. Most Czech fans know him from his time at AC Sparta Prague.

“The transfer to Manchester United is a special moment in my career. I can‘t wait to start here and help the club fulfil its ambitions,” the Slovak goalkeeper told Manchester United’s website.
