Ashley Cole was at one time one of the most prominent flankers in the football world. In a rich career, he donned the jerseys of Arsenal, Chelsea and also defended the national colors of Albion. After the end of his career as an active footballer, he embarked on a career as a coach and this February became an assistant to former teammate Frank Lampard at Premier League Everton.
Goal has confirmed that fame has almost taken its toll on the former outstanding footballer. Professional athletes make a lot of money during their careers, which of course attracts various thieves who sneak into the properties of celebrities. Most of the time, these acts happen in the absence of the athletes, but Ashley Cole was not so lucky.
Recently, a trial was held in Nottingham, UK, where details of the break-in at Cole’s home were revealed. It is clear that the former footballer and his family had to face the cruel rampage of thieves, who were not stopped even by the fact that Cole’s young children were in the house that day.
Four men allegedly broke into the house to tie up the former national player with cable ties while his wife Sharon Canu hid in a cupboard with the children and called the police. On making the call, the thieves discovered her and brought her to her bound husband. One of the men allegedly threatened to cut off Cole’s fingers if he did not cooperate.
The thieves eventually stole expensive jewelry, cell phones and the key to their BMW. By the time police arrived, the criminals had managed to flee the premises. But British police have caught the culprits and they are now on trial. The burglars have more in store, as they are allegedly the same gang that robbed the home of former Tottenham footballer Tom Huddlestone in 2019.
