Former champion Hill doubts their qualities even after the duel between Prochazka and Pereira: It ended too soon. Neither is on my level, I’ll prove it to you
Originally, Jamahal Hill was supposed to be Jiri Prochazka’s opponent in his comeback from injury, but he got injured and gave up the title after the example of the Moravian samurai. He then watched Alex Pereira beat him right there in Madison Square Garden. How does he rate the fight?
Originally, Jamahal Hill was supposed to be Jiri Prochazka’s opponent in his comeback from injury, but he got injured and gave up the title after the example of the Moravian samurai. He then watched Alex Pereira beat him right there in Madison Square Garden. How does he rate the fight?
And the merry-go-round goes on. The light heavyweight division has been absolutely unstable since Jon Jones left. The champions have come and gone. No one has been able to hold the title for any length of time since he moved up to heavyweight.
Jan Blachowicz defended against Israel Adesanya, but then lost to Glover Teixeira, who was later defeated by Jiri Prochazka, who was injured before his rematch with the Brazilian. The title bout between Blachowicz and Magomed Ankalaev followed, which ended in a draw.
At the beginning of the year, Teixeira and Jamahal Hill fought for the belt. The brash American was the underdog, but he destroyed the veteran in a dominant fashion. So he was to be Prochazka’s next opponent. It didn’t happen. He was seriously injured, relinquished the title, and it was vacant.
But Prochazka has not come full circle. On the contrary. He was defeated by Alex Pereira and he is the new king of the division. His next opponent? Hill, according to a statement from the UFC boss. But he needs to get his act together first. His mouth is already cut. It’s more a question of when it wasn’t.
He’s been picking on both Walker and Pereira since before their fight. He said he’d beat them both in one night. And that he would change his mind after the fight? No, he didn’t. He watched the fight himself right there in Madison Square Garden.
Hill still questions the quality of both Prochazka and Pereira
Alex Pereira made UFC history with his win over Jiri Prochazka. His victory, however, is widely debated. Experts, fans and fighters agree that the fight was stopped too soon, even though the Moravian Samurai claims otherwise.
Jamahal Hill also has his opinion. “I think it ended a little earlier than it should have. But overall, I was thinking that neither of them are at my level. Neither of them. They’re not better than me in any aspect of the fight,” MMA Mania quotes him as saying.
“I can’t wait to make a full recovery and prove it. As far as the fight goes, Pereira did a good job of kicking Prochazka’s leg. He got in the game, stayed patient. He showed that you can’t just attack recklessly. Thematch with him will be exciting,” the American is clear.
Pereira initially challenged Adesanya, but he is taking a break. As well as Prochazka’s future, UFC boss Dana White then spoke about the Brazilian’s future after the tournament. It was clear. A fight with the confident Hill is a priority.
And how does Hill feel about Pereira’s challenge to Adesanya? “I just laughed about it. It was clear he was going to do it. I understand he wants to fight him again, but he has to deal with me first,” he concluded the whole thing.
