He’s been through Arsenal’s entire academy, spent 10 years at Arsenal as a professional, been through West Ham and Bournemouth, been plagued by injuries for most of his career, this is Jack Wilshere trying to restart his career.
Mikel Arteta has offered the former teammate, with whom he played several seasons at Arsenal, to train with other Gunners players at their training centre in Colney. Jack Wilshere will get to play and Arsenal’s young players will get new experience.
Jack Wilshere has suffered from nagging injuries throughout his career. Last year, due to his latest injury, he terminated his contract at Bournemouth. He has been out of contract since then.
Arsenal representatives have approached him with an offer that he can use their training facilities until his football career progresses somewhere further.
Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s coach, says that Jack Wilshere will not be appearing in a jersey with a cannon on his chest anytime soon. But his former club wants to help him as much as possible to make the player better off physically and mentally.
Wilshere will also get a taste of what it’s like to coach a team while training with Arsenal, as he plans to study and then get his coaching license. Arsenal is willing to help him in this aspect as well.
“I am very happy to have him at the club. We understand his needs and at the club we believe we can help him. Sometimes he will train with us and gain experience to get his coaching licence.
We will also make sure he gets back in shape. He in turn will pass on his experience to our youngsters. He will have a big influence around him,” Mikel Arteta commented on the player’s return.
If he will do well enough to sign a contract at Arsenal is uncertain. But the club is as willing as possible to help him to continue with football in the future, whether it is a playing or coaching career.
