FNL: Žižkov dives into the third league, Brno goes for promotion. Slavie Farm reaches for the barrage
The second spring round of the second highest Czech football competition is over. While Zbrojovka Brno is fearlessly pursuing a return to the league, the iconic Viktoria Žižkov is slowly sinking into the CFL. The barrage may also have an interesting participant.

Two Friday prelims, seven goals, one goal conceded and two wins. That’s Zbrojovka Brno’s record so far this spring. First, they beat Prostejov 4:1, last time they beat Jihlava 3:0. It is now fearlessly pursuing promotion to the Fortuna Liga, with a 12-point lead at the top of the table.
And in the barrage, where the second and third teams of the FNL will go, we could see a very interesting participant. Vlašim acts as a farm for Slavie, where Sšice’s talents play. Slavia has also sent the whole implementation team to Vlasim, headed by coach Martin Hysky, assistants Matej Laza and Miroslav Podrazky and goalkeeper coach Bogdan Stefanovic.
There are 10 guest players in Vlašim – Matyáš Wágner, Michal Hošek, Marek Icha, Nedžad Zinhasovič, Jakub Křištan, Jonáš Kneifel, Matěj Jurásek, Tomáš Rigo, Martin Douděra and Adam Toula.
Vlašim defeated their neighbour Líšeň 3:1 at the weekend and leapfrogged them into second place. With 38 goals scored, Vlasim has the second best offense (Brno has 39) and has won four of its last five games.
And it underwent a big change in the winter, losing the league’s second-leading scorer Denis Alijagic or Denis Višinský. The big reinforcement is former big talent Jan Suchan, who came from Vyšehrad. He scored three times in three games, and another winter signing, Nigerian John Solomon, also scored against Lišnia.
But the fight for the barrage place is very even. Líšeň is in third place only by a score, they have 32 points with Vlašimí. Opava, which has 28 points, will certainly want to play for the league.
Sinking Žižkov
But the other end of the table is also very lively. Viktoria Žižkov is drowning in last place, having collected only 10 points. They have strengthened a lot over the winter, but the start of spring did not go well at all for Martin Pulpit’s charges. Last week they lost to Příbram, on Sunday they lost to Sparta’s B team with a last minute goal.
Their prospects of staying in the FNL look bleak now. Second to last Trinec has 14 points and a game to play. Chrudim are 14th. Thirteenth-placed Příbram has 20 points, as does twelfth-placed Jihlava, which has two games to play.
With two teams falling, Viktorka is not expecting anything easy. They have to push Třinec and Chrudim under them, but they have won only twice in 18 games.
