Sam Reinhart has his 500th point of the regular season
The start of the game went as expected. Florida forward Sam Reinhart gave the Panthers the lead at 25:38 with a goal. It was his 500th point of the regular season. He reached that mark in 658 games played.
He has 231 goals and 269 assists and ranks 10th in league scoring with 56 points in 44 games played. Moreover, with 33 goals scored, he is only one goal behind the top scorer of the current season, Auston Matthews.
And that’s not all, he also equaled his “personal best” from the 2021-22 season, when he also scored 33 goals but needed to play 78 games to do so. This just proves that he is really having the season of his life this season. And he has grown into a true team leader.
A new club record, the hero of the match was Dylan Larkin
Reinhart set a new Florida club record. He managed to score for the 8th consecutive game in which he scored 10 goals. Until now, the record was held by Pavel Bure, the “Russian Rocket”, who managed to score in seven consecutive games in the 2000-01 season.
On the other hand, Matthew Tkachuk did not fare well in the game, as he ended his nine-game streak of scoring at least one point. However, Detroit tied the game six minutes later thanks to a goal by Michael Rasmussen.
In the 12th minute of the second period, defenseman Gustav Forsling put Florida back in front. At 46:15, Red Wings forward Robby Fabbri tied the game at (2:2). With neither team able to score again until the end of the third period, the game went into overtime.
Dylan Larkin scored at 61:09 to complete the turnaround for the Red Wings. Thanks to this goal, Detroit was able to earn at least one point for the seventh consecutive game. And jumped to sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
