Another transfer bomb in the Slovak Fortuna League. After the return of Martin Škrtel to Spartak Trnava, another big player with a successful past will be in Slovakia. The last team in the Slovakian competition, FK Pohronie, has acquired the experienced Brazilian striker Raffaele.
Brazilian striker Raffael became a free agent in the summer of 2020 after his contract at Borussia Mönchengladbach expired. And now the 36-year-old striker is back on the football lawns again.
Surprisingly, he has signed for the last team in the Slovakian league, FK Pohronie, where he has signed a contract until the end of this autumn. Raffael should use his goals to help his employer get out of the last place in the table.
“Raffael is a fantastic player and a perfect person. If someone can score over 80 goals in one of the best competitions in the world, there is no need to discuss him. Even though he is coming into the season, he is ready.
He is a big pro who has kept himself in shape with a Swiss club. I think he will play an important role in our club. And an arrival of this calibre will be an asset for the Slovak league as well,” said Loic Favré, who is the Swiss co-owner of FK Pohronie.
In his rich career, Raffael has worn the jerseys of Borussia Mönchengladbach, Hertha Berlin, Dynamo Kiev, Schalke 04 and FC Zurich. In the German Bundesliga he managed to score an impressive 82 goals.
“I still want to enjoy football and play it for my own pleasure and for the pleasure of the spectators. When I was approached by Loic Favré, who I know very well, if I wanted to help him at the club where he is involved, I agreed.
I like the project they want to implement here in Slovakia and I would like to help the team with my experience and goals,“ said Raffael about his new engagement in Slovakia.
The Brazilian forward will wear the number nine jersey. He should be available this weekend and start against Trnava. This is a big signing for Pohronie and could help the club from the bottom of the league table.
