Karolina Pliskova is expected to be the first to appear on the hard court at 7 pm CET in the eight-final duels at Indian Wells.
Maria Sakkari awaits her after wins over Kalinskaya and Kudermetova of Russia. It will therefore be a duel between the world number seven from Greece and the WTA number 17 from the Czech Republic.
Barbora Krejcikova, currently ranked 16th in the singles rankings, will also face a member of the elite ten. She will face world number two Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus. The native of Ivančice defeated Ukraine’s Jastremska and China’s Wang in the previous rounds of the BNP Paribas Open.
The Czech derby between Karolina Muchova and Marketa Vondrousova will be a very interesting confrontation for the domestic fan. It will not be the first time for the latter player to face her compatriot at this tournament, as she already beat Maria Bouzkova twice 6:1 on Friday.
Petra Kvitová is also in the eight-final stage. She has already passed the American Mandlikova and the Latvian Ostapenko in her role as the 15th player in the WTA rankings and will challenge another local tennis player on Tuesday night. The world number three Jessica Pegula will defend the US colours against her.
The current women’s tennis ruler and defending champion Iga Świąteková is still in this year’s line-up. The twenty-one-year-old Pole will face the one year younger Emma Raducanu from Great Britain.
The other three semi-final matches will be the American-Swedish battle between Cori Gauff and Rebecca Peterson, the Kazakh-Russian clash between Jelena Rybakina and Varvara Gracheva and the Romanian-French duel between Sorana Cîrstea and Caroline Garcia.
The Czech footprint can also be found in the doubles quarter-finals, thanks to Barbora Krejcikova and Kateřina Siniaková. They are yet to meet their next opponents and will be decided by the Collins, Stearns – Hunter, Mertens match.
The women’s tournament in Indian Wells can be watched on O2 TV Tennis. This prestigious event also features the men’s category, with live coverage on Eurosport 2.
