First coaching change in the Premier League! Xisco Muñoz quits Watford
Not even 7 points from 7 games and 14th place in the table helped Muñoz to gain the club’s confidence. The management was not happy with his tactics and the Spanish coach is out at Vicarage Road.
Not even 7 points from 7 games and 14th place in the table helped Muñoz to gain the club’s confidence. The management was not happy with his tactics and the Spanish coach is out at Vicarage Road.
Xisco Muñoz replaced Vladimir Ivic at Watford in December 2020 and managed to take the club back to the Premier League. However, things have been considerably worse in the English top flight.
Although the Hornets started the season with a sensational win against Aston Villa, since then they’ve only managed a win against Norwich and a draw with Newcastle.
It was the home game against Newcastle, where Watford were lucky to get only a point, and the away game against Leeds in the last league round that were the final straw.
At Elland Road Watford gave a totally committed performance and Leeds easily got their first win of the season.
The Hornets management subsequently decided to use the upcoming national break to make a coaching change.
“The management feels that the performance in the last few games clearly shows a negative trend, although the team’s play should be improving at the moment. The Hornets will be forever grateful to Xisco for his contribution to our promotion last year and we wish him the best in his future career.”
The new coach will be announced during today’s Sunday according to speculation from around the club. He will be the 6th coach to work at Vicarage Road in the last 2 years.
