Finland will play its second match of the Nations League group stage on Tuesday, welcoming Montenegro in League B. The visitors unexpectedly lead the table after the first round, but this time they will face a tougher and especially away game.
Last year Finland unluckily missed out on the World Cup barrage, only to fall to third place due to a last-round loss to France and Ukraine’s win over Bosnia. It opened the new edition of the Nations League with a draw against Bosnia.
Montenegro, on the other hand, has had a good season, losing only two of its last five matches, drawing 2-2 with the strong Netherlands last November.
Teemu Pukki is the mainstay of the home team, the Norwich striker has scored twelve times and assisted four times this season. Lukas Hradecky of Leverkusen has been reliable in goal, while Glen Kamara of Glasgow Rangers has been holding down the backline.
Although midfielder Adam Marusic hasn’t had much success with Lazio this season, he is Montenegro’s biggest offensive weapon. Not to be left out are national icon Stefan Jovetic and Atletico Madrid stopper Stefan Savic.
Finland relies on a solid defence, having conceded more than once in only two of their last six games, on the other hand, they have scored just seven goals in them.
On the other hand, Montenegro’s offense is not working very well, scoring more than once in only two of the last six games, and failing to score twice.
Considering that Montenegro has won only one of the last six games, I think the Finns will win.
