Tony Ferguson’s fourth loss in a row has got people talking about his future. He was knocked out by Michael Chandler in his last fight. While he was thinking about ending his career before the fight, the duel with Chandler motivated him not to quit yet.
He had a phenomenal winning streak, winning 12 fights in a row, but now he has an unflattering losing streak. Tony Ferguson has lost his last four fights, most recently falling short to Michael Chandler.
Before the Chandler fight, there was a lot of talk about whether Ferguson could still measure up to the elite. However, in the very first round of the fight, it became clear that he definitely still has something to prove. However, he was knocked down hard in the second round, the first time in his career someone was able to shut him down.
However, Ferguson himself admitted some uncertainty about his future. He even thought about ending his professional career. But the fight with Chandler showed him that there was no reason to quit yet.
“If the first round hadn’t gone the way I did, I would have sh**t on it and announced the end of my career. It would just be over. I’d find another thing to do. I might as well just be a trainer,” MMA Junkie quotes him as saying.
“Chandler couldn’t find an answer to my first-round jabs, which brought back my hunger and appetite. I may have ended up on my back, but he didn’t like my elbows at all. Itwas a great battle between two fighters at the top,” Ferguson said.
the 38-year-old fighter has been ordered to serve a 60-day stoppage by the UFC, so he plans to use it to rest, but eventually he plans to get back up to speed and by all accounts, fans shouldn’t have to wait that long for his next fight.
