Roger Federer, currently eighth in the ATP rankings, is back after two knee surgeries. He is planning a comeback at the tournament in Geneva.
After undergoing two knee surgeries in 2020, Roger Federer said Doha was just a small test. He plans to play in a tournament in his native Switzerland next week.
“It’s important how I react physically and mentally because I think tennis is there,” he told RTS in a TV interview. “I want to see how the knee reacts because sometimes it will react differently in competition than in practice, because of the stress of competition and everything else.
That might be why there are still some questions. Anyway, I’ll have to play a dozen games to see how I feel,” he added.
And he plans to play more matches under the ATP umbrella. He wants to compete in Paris, and then Wimbledon.
The 20-time major champion also said he is now vaccinated, which was his priority. Plus, it will allow him to stay with his wife and four children under the relaxed ATP protocols that come into effect next week.
What form will the former world number one be in?
