Torino is finishing the season with a calm head, which is reflected in the results. Its salvation has long been assured, having lost only one of the last eight rounds.
AS Roma will be the first to guard sixth place, with seventh-placed Fiorentina just one point behind. Theoretically, AS can still leapfrog city rival Lazio, but it would have to win, Lazio lose to Verona and AS chase at least six goals in goal difference.
Andrea Belotti, the team’s long-injured captain and Italy international, is getting into form, with eight goals and one assist. Serbian central midfielder Sasa Lukic has opened the net five times and assisted on four other goals.
English playmaker Tammy Abraham has been firing in the visitors’ jersey, scoring twenty-three goals and assisting on four. Central midfielder and AS captain Lorenzo Pellegrini has scored thirteen times and assisted six.
Torino will miss the injured Alessandro Buongiorno and Antonio Sanabria, while Henrik Mkhitaryan will not start for AS.
The home side rely on an excellent defence and have scored more than one goal in only one of their last eleven games, while celebrating four clean sheets.
The visitors, on the other hand, have been left in the dust in April, scoring just five goals in their last seven games, which has left them in fifth place.
Given the importance of the game, I think José Mourinho will motivate his players and they will win.
