A serious accident nearly cost her career and her career
It was November 10, 2021. In Ostrava, a serious accident occurred when a driver on the phone at 60 km/h hit the talented fighter Veronika Zajícová in a crosswalk. She suffered several injuries.
She had a fractured skull, bleeding in the brain, a cracked vertebra and a very serious fracture in her leg. There were concerns about whether she would ever wrestle again. However, she showed tremendous character and strength as a fighter.
Now Zajícová is the European champion!
Of course, the serious accident was followed by a not-so-short recovery. The biggest problem was the nerve in her leg when she had no feeling in it. But she eventually recovered and returned to combat sports.
In September, she flew with the Czech Republic squad to the European Championships and fought in two events. In MMA, she fought to reach the finals, but narrowly lost on points. Nevertheless, she won a bronze medal.
In MMA Striking, however, she managed to win gold in the under 52.2 kg weight class. In the final she defeated an opponent who has 7 professional fights, is a two-time world champion and once became European GAMMA champion.
