Matěj Kovář has made his debut for Bayer Leverkusen. He contributed to the 4:0 victory with a quality performance and pleased especially the fans who praised his footwork. There were even comparisons to Manuel Neuer.
Matěj Kovář has had an excellent season at Sparta Prague. He was supposed to be there for another season, but his performances earned him a place in Manchester United’s training camp.
He proved his worth and when United found out that they could earn something from him, they decided not to let him back to Sparta and instead looked for a club that would pay the required amount.
That was Bayer Leverkusen and it was clear that Kovar was not going to be easy. He had to get the current number one and captain Lukas Hradecky out of the goal.
This has only been done now that the coach has given him a chance in the Europa League. Kovář started against Swedish Häcken and he could not have asked for a better start. He reached a clean sheet at the back for the German team and the result was 4:0.
Kovar was widely praised by Bayer fans, convincing with several promising saves and above all with the footwork that has adorned him for a long time.
Kovar is simply confident and that is why we can see comparisons on social media with the German goalkeeping legend Manuel Neuer, who was one of the pioneers of this style of play.
So Kovar asked for another chance, which he will probably get in the next Europa League match. 5. bayern travels to Molde on October, before playing two league games, at home to Heidenheim and away at Mainz.
