The Moravian fighter got his start in MMA less than two years ago, and in that time he’s managed six fights in the Octagon and won them all. With the exception of one fight, he was able to end all of them early by KO/TKO.
In addition, in his last two fights he has been tested by fighters who have experience in organizations like Bellator or M-1, where Attila Végh and Ivan Buchinger became champions in the past.
In addition, Matej Peñáz is now training at the Allstars Gym in Sweden, where he trains alongside UFC stars. Among them are Khamzat Chimaev, Alexander Gustafsson and Ilir Latifi. This way he improves his wrestling and his skills on the ground.
The Octagon star will spend this entire year in Stockholm. However, it is questionable whether he will end 2022 as a fighter of the Czechoslovakian organization. He’s been lassoed by the UFC.
A week ago, he said in his stream that he believes he will make it to the UFC, but that it takes time. So the offer came a lot sooner than he expected.
However, he will still have to fight for a contract in the best MMA organization in the world. In fact, he announced on Instagram that he will be appearing on Dana White’s reality show Contender Series.
It was through this show, where the fights are watched by UFC boss Dana White himself, that Slovakian Octagon champion Martin Buday recently made his way to the UFC and has his first successful fight in the organization.
Former champion Michal Martinek also got this chance, but unfortunately lost his fight. Will Peñáz be successful?
